Red Sea Global: Innovation and Sustainability at the Core of All Projects
Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea is a prime example of the region’s potential to lead luxury hospitality and regenerative tourism into a new era of growth and set a new standard in the world of wellness travel and high-end coastal lifestyle. Signaling a transformative shift centred on sustainability and holistic wellness, The Red Sea project is a regenerative master development helmed by Red Sea Global – the developer behind Saudi Arabia’s new push towards sustainable tourism destinations. Forming an integral part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 programme, Red Sea Global is working closely to deliver destinations that will realise Saudi’s new target of 150 million annual visitors by 2030, thus reducing the reliance on oil revenues by empowering and growing the tourism industry.
A Blueprint for Tomorrow: Setting Global Standards in Sustainable Development
Red Sea Global is raising the bar in sustainable tourism by integrating luxury with a unique approach to regenerative development and transformative travel, a strategy that is grounded in preserving the most valuable asset on the developer’s balance sheet – nature and the environment. A cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the Red Sea Global project will see the completion of 50 resorts and approximately 1,200 residential units across 22 islands and six inland sites. The Red Sea project is built on the Kingdom’s natural landscape and cultural heritage creating spaces that resonate with the growing demand for sustainable tourism and reduce negative environmental impact. Cutting-edge technology and innovation are integrated into every facet of the development with a holistic approach embedded in every element, from design to dining and guest experiences. To deliver on this ambitious plan, Red Sea Global partnered with global wellness brands like Clinique, La Prairie, and Six Senses and luxury hospitality names such as Four Seasons and St Regis, all of which combine to offer guests experiences that go beyond traditional tourism.
How Innovation is Shaping a Greener Future for Luxury Tourism
The shift in travel innovations is driven by the need to reduce carbon emissions and prioritise eco-friendly solutions. Innovation and sustainability will be key factors that will contribute largely to making luxury tourism greener in the future. Applying blockchain, Artificial intelligence (AI), and virtual reality (VR) technologies, Red Sea Global can accommodate the tendencies of eco-aware travellers and lead to a more personalised and stress-free travel experience.
With five luxury resorts fully operational at The Red Sea, the region is well-positioned as a destination of choice for modern, responsible travellers who support green tourism.
The hotels operated by Red Sea Global are already embracing this principle, promoting wellness and a greener future backed by innovation and sustainability.
Red Sea Resorts Protecting Nature’s Masterpiece
Six Senses Southern Dunes was the first property to open for guests at The Red Sea in 2023.
Inspired by the ancient heritage of the Nabataean people, and set against the immense backdrop of desert plains and Hijaz Mountains, Six Senses Southern Dunes puts sustainability and wellness to the forefront of the resort. The property is set to be the first LEED Platinum-certified hotel in Saudi Arabia, with 100% of the resort’s power generated through solar energy. The hotel used locally sourced materials for construction and was designed by British architectural firm Foster + Partners, renowned for their eco credentials.
Similarly, Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is an unspoiled sanctuary surrounded by pristine coral, designed in synergy with the natural environment. The resort is 100 per cent solar-powered its design realised by the same firm – Foster + Partners – with shell-inspired architecture and interiors crafted from natural materials.
Desert Rock is Saudi Arabia’s hotel carved into a mountain – literally – and the fifth property to open at The Red Sea. The resort opened in December 2024, covering 30,000 square metres of pristine land and ancient rocky outcrops. Desert Rock reflects Red Sea Global’s commitment to sustainability and luxury tourism where every design detail honours the surrounding landscape while preserving and enhancing its natural habitats.
